Singapore Skydive Dropzone
Dropzone location
There is no skydiving dropzone in Singapore.
Changi airport is a commercial airport with approximately $1.88 billion revenue yearly. Authority wouldn’t risk it for skydivers.
There are 5 military air bases, but are impossible by default.
The only “possible” option is Seletar airport.
Pricing
If the skydivers and pilot-in-training share the fuel costs, it might work
Let’s talk cost.
Singapore is one of the most expensive city in the world. The price tag will be eye-popping.
The price would absolutely be more than $52 (1400 Baht) since that’s what Dropzone Thailand charges.
Realistically, it’s probably $100 per jump.
Example 1
If I go for a 5 days trip in Thailand, the cost should be
Item | SGD |
---|---|
Flight | $300 |
Accommodation | $35x5=$175 |
Transportation | $80x2+$10x5=$210 |
15 Jumps (assuming 3 jumps per day) | $52x15=$780 |
Total | $1,465 |
If I do 15 jumps in Singapore, it will cost $1,500.
It is surprising as I was expecting Singapore to be way more expensive. But they are close.
Example 2
What is the total cost of 1,000 jumps then?
In Singapore, it’s simple, $100x1,000 = $100,000
In Thailand
Item | SGD |
---|---|
Flight | $300 |
Accommodation | $35x333=$11,655 |
Transportation | $80x2+$10x333=$3,490 |
15 Jumps (assuming 3 jumps per day) | $52x1000=$52,000 |
Total | $67,445 |
For 1,000 jumps, Singapore will cost $32,555 more than Thailand.
Conclusion
These examples are simplified. We don’t include bundle jump discount etc, but I expect the numbers to be similar.
If there is a Singapore dropzone, it will only be affordable for millionaires. Only 8% of Singaporean can do it.
